1. We worked well as a team and though it took awhile for us to decide on a song, we were able to compromise on our final music video and evenly divide the work amongst ourselves. We didn't have trouble meeting up to film and everyone contributed to the props needed in the video. We all played a role in the music video and Alexa made sure to copy the main character in the video well. Cassandra and I alternated on camera work as we switched shots and each of us worked on the shot list beforehand. Alexa was our main editor for all video projects this quarter and she did a fantastic job on putting our video together. Cassandra was usually our talent/main actor and I was the camera person. We worked well together and didn't have many problems other than which locations we needed to film at and how we were all going to get there. As for communication, we were in a media group chat so we were able to work on projects together while at home.
2. This project was a lot more difficult since we had to use our imagination and make our own props while finding similar-looking locations to shoot at. There were many more shots that we added to the shot list and struggled to produce accurate moving shots without too much shaking. It was bit easier than previous projects though since we had the freedom to choose our own music video and could have more fun producing our video. A majority of us were more comfortable with each other as well since we've worked on projects together beforehand. 3. There were three group members in total. Alexa was our main editor and the main character in the music video. Cassandra and I alternated between camera person as the shots switched. We were all in the music video and each worked on the shot list. 4. I would score our music video a 3 because despite our teamwork, our video missed several shots and we had to reuse film throughout the video to reach the time limit. Our exposure and camera settings were done nicely and though we acted a bit awkwardly, we did the best we could and stayed on task. Our side-by-side edits were off, especially in the beginning. We realized a few minutes before the due date that we had to add the actual music video next to our homemade one and hurried to turn in the project on time while making edits. Fortunately we were able to later edit it in sync and turn it in while maintaining a good grade. 5. I need to improve on my moving shots. Music videos especially include many moving shots and it was difficult for us to shoot while holding the camera with shaking hands. I'll try to improve on moving the tripod more steadily and a bit more on communication. Though I've improved on voicing my thoughts while talking with my group members, I don't always answer my phone when I should. This quarter I hope to improve more on talking with my group members and making sure I stay on top of things. 6. I would score myself a 4. I communicated effectively with my group and had no arguments but I could answer my phone more frequently for updates on our work progress. I also would like to work more on editing instead of having one group member do most of the editing. I think I'm okay at editing but I'm not very confident either, especially when someone's watching. I'd like to experiment more with Final Cut and hopefully edit one of our videos or work with my group members to complete a video. 2017 A Way Back - NATAS Award of Excellence for Audio/Sound I enjoyed this video because the sound effects and scenery were beautiful. The audio of the beach and forest were well done and it helped me better understand where the story was taking place. As for the scenery, each shot was crafted to show the landscape of the scene and matched the sound effects. I also appreciated the transition between the beach and forest through the door; it was very smooth and flowed effectively. 2016 STN Crazy 8s - True Measure "True Measure" was interesting as I could relate to the problems each person faced. The effects and transitions were splendid when the narrator switched his items on and off. The story line was well thought out and could engage an audience of all ages. The moral behind the video was a significant one that all people could learn from and help them grow more as a person. Waves of Aloha This news feature video gave me more insight on the morals Hawaiian citizens share. It was a heart-warming story and had me listening carefully throughout the entire video. Furthermore, the interviews helped me better understand the topic and gave detailed information of the interviewed person's feelings and perspectives. The sound quality was fantastic and I could hear each person loud and clear while distinguishing the background audio effects. Convention Recap | STN 2018 First Place
The "Convention Recap" video helped me imagine what it must be like for an editor to attend the STN convention. It shared the personal feelings of student attendees and was thorough with the information given about the event. The sound effects heard mainly in the beginning of the video was clear and gave me a better understanding of what was to be done at the STN convention. Watching the clips shown on screen helped me better envision what the people were feeling and showed their true feelings come through. |
